The maps were made by the research team based on data from multiple sources that has been used to analyse the spatial dynamics of urbanisation, land use, employment, population, and commuting.
Land use form data were extracted from WUDAPT level 0 data and the product of Jing-Jin-Ji region. The Local Climate Zone (LCZ) classification framework is applied by WUDAPT. For more information about the data source, please see the WUDAPT page. http://www.wudapt.org/
Population data were derived from the 2010 Population Census data of the People's Republic of China. The spatial unit for mapping is the township. For more information about the data source, please see the official website of National Bureau of Statistics of China. http://www.stats.gov.cn/
Employment maps were made based on the data from the Third National Economic Census of the People's Republic of China. Main employment centres in Beijing were identified with the definition of having 50,000 or more employment population at the township level. For more information about the data source, please see the official website of National Bureau of Statistics of China. http://www.stats.gov.cn/
Commuting flows were mapped based on the origin-destination matrix compiled from the survey data of the project. For more information, please see the publications of the research team. Publications
